Festival Research

Definition – There are many definition of festivals, here are a few specific basics of what a festival is.

A festival is an event, usually and ordinarily staged by a local community, which centres on some unique aspect of that community and city.
It’s generally a day or period of time set aside for feasting and celebration, normally lasting either a day or a two day period.
There are many organized series of acts and performances (usually in one place); a drama festival, other festivals provide entertainment normally to please a crowd and celebrate through some topics such as,

Music
Dancing
Art and Design


The types of festivals in the U.K

Glastonbury Festival – this festival originated from the early 70’s and has expanded ecstatically through out the years, this festival carries on throughout the whole weekend.

Radio 1 Big Weekend – This festival is a free entry and free stay through the day and packs in all the entertainment to some of the world’s biggest stars today, they travel each year to each location in the UK so everybody can come and experience the major performances.

ITunes Festival -
This festival is fresh from the pack due to the organizers only recently bringing the festival to life. With one of the worlds biggest companys Apple provides a computer system called iTunes so they suggested creating a festival for their audiences. This festival normally lasts 20-30days.
